A departure from the series of decks I had been working on. Decided to replace Lenco motor which was adding rumble. Initial tests with an Origin Live DC200 motor were not impressive. Then I spoke to an engineer friend of mine, who suggested adding a flywheel of the same mass as the Lenco rotor. This did the trick,& this latest deck has all the magic of the Lenco idler drive, but none of the noise!
Here are the results:
Clear view of brass flywheel which also powers Lenco idler wheel.
Brass weight on the left balances the whole suspended assembly giving correct tension of idler wheel on platter rim.
Magnet on rear grabs counterweight lifting idler clear of platter to disengage.
